Introduction to JEE Main 2024

JEE Main 2024 Exam City Intimation Slip has been released. Registration has been started for Session 2 from 1st June 2024. Admit Card (Session 1) will be released soon in June 2024 as per sources. Exam Dates have been revised for both sessions. JEE Main is a national-level entrance exam organized by NTA every year. It is an engineering entrance test organized all over India for engineering aspirants. By qualifying for this exam, candidates will get admission in B.Tech/ B.E/ B.Arch/ B.Plan courses into top known engineering institutions like IIT’s, NIT’s, CFTI’s, etc. As per the new changes introduced, the exam is being conducted two times – in the months of June & July. The exam will be held separately for Paper 1 (B.Tech/ B.E) and Paper 2 (B.Arch/ B.Plan). JEE Main 2024 Admit Card

Candidates will be able to download JEE Main admit card from the website of NTA. It will be available for download from March 2024 for 1st session on the website a few days before the examination. Students can download hall tickets by entering their login details.

The admit card must be kept safely as it is an important document which will contain various details about the candidates and exam. Students must go through complete instructions mentioned on the hall ticket before appearing for the exam.

Application Fee:

The application fee of JEE Main can be paid through online mode only. Offline mode payment is not available.

Online payment mode: Candidates can pay online application fee using debit card/ credit card /net banking/ PAYTM or UPI method.

JEE Main 2024 Exam Pattern

Candidates must check complete JEE Main exam pattern in the below given section:

  1. Exam mode: JEE Main will be held in online computer-based test mode. However, the drawing test of paper 2 will be held in pen and paper mode.
  2. Papers: There will be two papers in JEE Main – Paper I for B.E/ B.Tech and Paper II for B.Arch & B.Plan.
  3. Time Duration: Time of 3 hrs will be provided to complete the paper. For PWD candidates 1 hour will be provided extra.
  4. Type of Questions: There will be objective type of questions in the exam. The drawing paper will be subjective in nature.
  5. Language: JEE Main paper can be attempted by the students in various languages. These languages are – Hindi, English, Gujarati, Bengali, Assamese, Marathi, Odia, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Punjabi, Urdu and Telugu.
  6. Total Questions: There will be total 90 questions in Paper I (B.E/ B.Tech) and 82 questions in Paper IIA (B.Arch) and 105 questions in Paper IIB (B.Plan).
  7. Marks: Paper I (B.E/ B.Tech) will be of 300 marks ; Paper IIA (B.Arch) and Paper IIB (B.Plan) will be of total 400 marks.
  8. Marking Scheme: For every correct answer, 4 marks will be given. 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer. From this year there will be negative marking also in Section B. -1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect response. In section B, for each for each question enter the correct integer value of the answer using the mouse and the on-screen virtual numeric keypad in designated place to enter answer. The answer must be rounded off to the nearest integer.

JEE Main 2024 Syllabus

The syllabus of JEE Main can be checked online on the website of NTA. The JEE Main syllabus is prescribed from CBSE – 11th and 12th level syllabus. Candidates can go through NCERT syllabus.

  1. For JEE Main (B.E /B.Tech) Paper, the questions will be from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects.
  2. For JEE Main (B. Arch) Paper, the questions will be from Mathematics, drawing, and Aptitude.
  3. For JEE Main (B. Plan) Paper, the questions will be from Mathematics, planning based and Aptitude section.

JEE Mains Paper II & III (B.Arch/ B.Plan) Syllabus:

Part I: Awareness of persons, places, Buildings, Materials, Visualizing three dimensional objects from two dimensional drawings, Visualizing, Analytical Reasoning Mental Ability (Visual, Numerical and Verbal), etc.

Part II: Understanding and appreciation of scale and proportion of objects, color texture, Transformation of forms both 2D and 3D union, building forms and elements, harmony and contrast, subtraction, rotation, creating two-dimensional and three-dimensional compositions using given shapes and forms, etc.
